Chuck Mitchell, formerly of Oceola/Cobden and Ottawa, dearly loved father of Melanie Mitchell (feline friend River); Ryan Mitchell (wife Karen); Stephanie Mitchell (husband Denis Dion), all of Ottawa. Grandfather to Evan, Cameron, Adam, Michael & Mathieu. Great-grandfather to Malaki and Grace.Predeceased by parents Dr. Robert Morrison Mitchell & Jessie Claire Mitchell (nee Williams), brother, Robert Williams Alexander Mitchell; sister, Tania Susanne Mitchell, step-mother, Elizabeth Mitchell (neeWinton) and his children's mother Connie McCormick. Survived by brother Terrence "Terry" Mitchell and numerous extended family members.
Chuck Mitchell was a prominent photojournalist for The Canadian Press news agency who captured iconic images of Canadian political history from the 1960s through the 1980s.
Archival Legacy: Photos credited to "Chuck Mitchell/The Canadian Press" are frequently used by major media outlets and historical archives to illustrate pivotal moments in modern Canadian history

POST RETIREMENT:
After retiring, Chuck, who lived in Hazeldean Ontario most of his working life, retired to the small village of Osceola North and West of Ottawa near Renfrew.
During his years here he continued on with his artistic nature and his love of wildlife and dabbling in other forms of artistic expression.
To me Chuck was always a quiet mild-mannered man unless he was forced to anger and behind his hunting, fishing, outdoorsman exterior there lived a passionate creative man that few people understood but many enjoyed...
